Pete Vere, JCL/MCL
(Canon Law), Canon Lawyer -
Pete Vere offers our team some muscle in the area of canon
law. Pete is widely publicized in a number of Catholic journals
and magazines, including frequent appearances in Envoy
Magazine, Challenge, The Interim, The
Bread of Life, Lay Witness, Roman Replies &
CLSA Advisory Opinions, and The Wanderer. He is also
the author of Surprised by Canon Law and More Catholic Than the Pope. Pete is a regular
blogger over at Catholic Light and Envoy Encore. Pete encouraged John to
start The Catholic Legate.
Pete Vere was born and raised in Sudbury, Northern Ontario. His reversion story from the SSPX schism is told in Patrick Madrid's Surprised by Truth 3. He was the youngest licensed canon lawyer in North America when he obtained his ecclesiastical licentiate and civil Master's Degree in canon law from Saint Paul University in Ottawa, Canada.
As a Catholic writer, canonist and apologist, Pete's work has appeared in numerous Catholic publications such as Homiletic & Pastoral Review, Southern Renaissance, the National Catholic Register, CLSA Convention Proceedings, New Covenant, and St. Catherine Review. He has also appeared on EWTN, MSNBC, and numerous Catholic radio programmes. Pete is married to his college sweetheart, Sonya. They have two children and hope God will bless them with more in the future. When not engaging in canon law or apologetics, Pete and Sonya volunteer with the International Order of Alhambra -- a Catholic fraternal organization dedicated to assisting the mentally and developmentally challenged.
